The Exposition Construction Authority has created an Urban Design Committee comprised of stakeholders appointed by each of the Authority’s Board Members. The Urban Design Committee will meet at key points during the design process of Phase 1 of the Exposition Light Rail Line. Designed to give the community an opportunity to have input into the aesthetics of the Exposition Line project, an Urban Design Committee will collaborate on several design issues, including the final landscaping plan. Landscaping is a particularly important element in creating the Exposition Light Rail line as a transit parkway. When it opens, the Exposition Light Rail line will feature over 2,000 trees and 450,000 shrubs and vines. In fact, trees removed during preconstruction will be replaced at a 3:1 ratio (three trees planted for every tree removed). Other urban design elements on the light rail line are landscape architecture and public art.
